Mosaic Heart Centre

donation of $2 million

Through a lead donation of $2 million in 2006 from The Mosaic Company, the Mosaic Heart Centre was established at Regina's General Hospital. Thanks to Mosaic's leadership gift and the strong support of our donors, the Mosaic Heart Centre is recognized as a provincial cardiac centre of excellence.

In 2009, the Kinsmen Telemiracle Foundation made a $1.25 million commitment to support an Electrophysiology (EP) Lab at the Mosaic Heart Centre.

EP deals with potentially life-threatening problems relating to the heart's electrical activity, which is responsible for making the heart beat. The Kinsmen Telemiracle Foundation EP Lab opened in 2011 and plays a vital role in diagnosing and treating many people from across southern Saskatchewan with an abnormal heartbeat.

The first EP procedure was successfully completed in 2012, marking the first time in the province that an atrial fibrillation ablation procedure had been offered.

In 2014, the EP Lab reached a milestone 500th EP procedure. “It’s a great achievement for Saskatchewan," says Dr. Omar Sultan, Medical Director of the EP Lab and GMS Cardiac Rhythm Device Clinic. I’m very excited to be part of this. It just shows that this was a very under-served part of medicine. There are hundreds of people, or more, still awaiting treatment, but at least we’ve made a difference in 500 people’s lives for the better."
