Regina is one of three designated pediatric centres in our province, and the only one in southern Saskatchewan, helping thousands of children every year. It is crucial for the hundreds of families across southern Saskatchewan who depend on our pediatric programs each year that we maintain the highest level of care possible, right here at home.

Pediatric services in the Regina General Hospital include inpatient and outpatient care. On average, the inpatient unit provides medical care to 2,600 children in critical need. The pediatric outpatient unit provides a wide variety of services including clinics for surgery, neurology, endoscopy, asthma and cardiology, and it sees an average of 4,000 children annually.

There is also the Children’s Program at the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre (WRC), which provides support and therapy services for children with physical disabilities, developmental challenges and communication disorders. Last year, the Children’s Program had over 16,000 visits from 2,800 children who required support and therapy services.

We are committed to building exceptional pediatric programs so children from across southern Saskatchewan have access to specialized health care when they need it most. Since Hospitals of Regina Foundation was established in 1987, we have invested over $44 million in Regina's pediatric services.

The Regina General Hospital is home to the most family-centered Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Western Canada. It sees about 400 vulnerable babies every year. Thanks to the Z99 Radiothon, which has supported the NICU for the past 38 years, and the constant outpouring of support from the community, the Foundation has been able to invest in the best equipment and technology available.

Thanks to the proceeds from the Foundation’s signature event, the Four Seasons Ball, combined with the passionate support of the community, children across southern Saskatchewan will continue to have access to the specialized health care they need, right here at home.

Check out some of the pediatric success stories from our community that your support of the Foundation has helped us write.
