Regina, Saskatchewan – Today, Hospitals of Regina Foundation (HRF) received a $50,000 donation from Brandt Group of Companies, which has pushed them past the halfway mark in their Million Dollar Match surgical fundraising campaign. The $2 million campaign is raising funds for urgently needed surgical equipment for Regina’s hospitals, which will allow our surgeons to work more efficiently, quickly and safely.
“We are so excited to partner with Brandt Group of Companies and acknowledge their leadership and commitment to a healthy community,” says Judy Davis, HRF President & CEO. “Brandt’s gift, made through their Thanks a Billion program, came at such an important time in our surgical campaign. Their gift has brought us over the midpoint in our fundraising efforts.”
Davis also noted, “PotashCorp is matching all donations dollar for dollar, up to $1 million to help us meet our $2 million goal.”
“Brandt’s success over the years is something we like to share with the community we call home. Through our “Thanks a Billion” program we’re supporting causes that meet needs and enhance the lives of people in Regina and the surrounding area. Brandt is committed to healthy communities and honoured to participate in this important effort. We’re confident that money raised will be put to good use through the purchase of much needed surgical equipment. Brandt is pleased to support the Hospitals of Regina Foundation and this very worthy fundraising initiative”, says Gavin Semple, Chairman of Brandt Group of Companies.
Brandt’s donation will be used to purchase a new surgical video system used by surgeons to perform intricate and specialized ‘keyhole’ operations.
“By acquiring new surgical technology and adding to our existing equipment inventory, Regina’s hospitals will be able to reduce surgical delays that are presently caused by equipment shortages,” says Dr. David McCutcheon, Vice President, Physician & Integrated Health Services, Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region. “Thanks to Brandt, PotashCorp, and other generous companies and individuals from our community, our surgeons will be able to perform the right surgery, at the right time, which is exciting news for the people of southern Saskatchewan.”
In addition to purchasing a new video system, other needed surgical equipment includes a new microscope to perform reconstructive plastic surgery, surgical tools to perform keyhole surgeries, and a specialized ultrasound for kidney operations.
PotashCorp will match all donations to the HRF Million Dollar Match surgical campaign, up to $1 million, until June 30th. Donations to the campaign can be made online at www.hrf.sk.ca or by calling toll free 1‐888‐766‐ 7500.
The Hospitals of Regina Foundation is a non‐profit organization, guided by a volunteer Board of Directors. They are the only organization raising funds for southern Saskatchewan’s specialized care hospitals – the Regina General Hospital, the Pasqua Hospital and the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre. Since 1987, the Foundation has raised over $140 million to enhance healthcare.
The Thanks a Billion Program was introduced when Brandt surpassed a major milestone of $1 billion in annual revenue as a way of expressing appreciation to the communities, customers, and employees who helped them reach this level of success. Since the program began, Brandt has given back over $8.7 million dollars which includes donations to more than 195 charitable initiatives in 92 communities.
