June 24, 2025, Regina, Sask. – Hospitals of Regina Foundation and the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) are pleased to unveil a transformed space at the Regina General Hospital courtyard.
Several changes have been made to refresh the space, including added greenery to soften the space, enhanced lighting and security, accessible and welcoming seating, a children’s chalkboard bench and five mural artworks created by local artists.
“We know that there are both physical and mental health benefits to spending time outside,” says Dino Sophocleous, president and CEO of Hospitals of Regina Foundation. “It was our pleasure to invest in this project which will provide a greatly transformed outdoors space for our hard-working hospital teams, as well as our patients and their families, to reflect and decompress.”
Hospitals of Regina Foundation proudly contributed $50,000 to this project. Patients, family members and staff will be able to enjoy the newly transformed courtyard for years to come thanks to the generosity of our donors.
“We want this courtyard to be a place where people feel safe, seen and supported. A place where, after a difficult moment, anyone can step outside and feel the weight lift just a little,” says Sheila Anderson, vice-president of Integrated Regina Health with the Saskatchewan Health Authority. “We thank Hospitals of Regina Foundation for being generous partners of the SHA, and supporting many of our priority needs in Regina’s hospitals and health care facilities, including the courtyard transformative project.”
ABOUT HOSPITALS OF REGINA FOUNDATION
In 1987, an inspired group of volunteers came together to make lives better for the people of southern Saskatchewan. Their vision helped establish Hospitals of Regina Foundation. We fundraise and invest in key centres of care, with a goal to help establish the best health care possible for everyone in our community. With the help of our dedicated donors, the Foundation has raised more than $250 million since our inception, and together we will continue to support the critical work of our medical teams and, most importantly, patients in Regina and southern Saskatchewan.
