The expanded facility will be geared to deliver advances in cardiac care for South Saskatchewan
Regina, SK – On March 24th at 10:00 a.m., the Regina General Hospital will unveil its expanded cardiac clinic now called the GMS Cardiac Rhythm Device Clinic thanks to a generous donation last year by GMS. This newly upgraded clinic will allow for facility improvements and the introduction of a digital electrocardiogram (ECG) testing, file management and storage system to better serve patients who require specialized cardiac care services.
“Over the past decade or so, GMS has donated over $1.5 million dollars to healthcare focused initiatives and they are an important part of why our heart patients can count on receiving the best care possible in our hospitals,” said Keith Dewar, President and Chief Executive Officer, Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region.
The expanded facility space will enhance patient privacy and allow the Clinic to serve more patients in less time. Leading-edge equipment will be purchased through GMS’ generous gift giving doctors instant access to the most recent patient monitoring reports at the click of a button from anywhere in the hospital. The ultimate goal is to have this system linked to a patient electronic medical record system ensuring that the most up-todate information is available when needed especially in emergency situations. When seconds count, this can save lives.
“The GMS Cardiac Rhythm Device Clinic upgrade and new equipment purchase goes to show how much GMS supports the advancement of health care in Saskatchewan,” said Aaron Runge, Board Member for the Hospitals of Regina Foundation. “They have continually delivered much needed healthcare support to patients and their families.”
This Clinic upgrade is vital to expanding cardiac care services for patients across Southern Saskatchewan.
“We know that thousands of our community members need access to high quality, specialized cardiac care services, and that need is growing,” said David Blodgett, President and CEO, GMS. “We’re thrilled to contribute to the future of healthcare through this innovative clinic.”
