Thanks to HRF donors, the PAC at the Pasqua Hospital became a reality.
Thanks to Hospitals of Regina Foundation donors, the Prostate Assessment Centre (PAC) at the Pasqua Hospital became a reality.
“One of our objectives is to detect any cancers in patients as early as possible, which results in more effective treatment,” says Dr. Ashok Verma, Radiologist.
Donor support has helped us to advance the field of prostate cancer, increase efficiency and raise the overall profile of the PAC.
The PAC includes:
- A recovery/monitoring room with enhanced privacy. Here, patients can get their vital signs checked and have both pre-biopsy assessment and post-biopsy monitoring done in a comfortable environment.
- An area where patients can change in privacy.
- A designated prostate suite, equipped with a special machine dedicated to performing prostate biopsies and ultrasounds.
Although many enhancements have been made to the PAC, there is still a strong need for continued support. “Technology is making fast advances, and we strive to keep as up-to-date as best we can,” says Kam Dhillon, Ultrasound Technologist. “Donor support helps to ensure that we have the latest technology possible, which gives all of us, and our patients, greater peace of mind.”
