Music is at the heart of Joe Puff’s life. As a drum teacher and the drummer for local rock band Sing The Body Electric, Joe was inspired to give back the best way he knew how – by hosting a rock concert at The Revival Music Room in support of the music therapy program at Wascana Rehabilitation Centre (WRC). Why the music therapy program? Not only is music a big part of Joe’s life but it was a big part of his grandfather’s life as well. As a resident of the Veteran’s Program at WRC for two years, Joe’s grandfather accessed the music therapy program. Music therapy is often used in long-term care facilities to encourage activity, reduce stress, increase social connections and improve speech and cognitive skills. A big thank you to Joe, his band and the other two local bands who performed, Above The Crown and Dead Levee, who performed.
