Hundreds of people packed the Conexus Arts Centre Saturday night, for the sold out Hospitals of Regina Foundation's Four Seasons Ball, proudly presented by GMS. The event raised $437,000, which will help the Foundation meet its $1 million commitment to Regina’s Pediatric Services in 2018.

“What a magnificent evening,” said Hospitals of Regina President and CEO Dino Sophocleous. “It’s exciting to know so many people in this community support our vision of a world-class pediatrics program right here at home. Through their support of this event, our sponsors, donors, supporters and volunteers are making that vision a reality, and creating better lives for our children.”

He says the Ball helps children like Bella and Mila, whose story was featured at this year’s Ball. The twins have been beating the odds since day one. The girls were born weighing less than two pounds each and given a less than two per cent chance of survival. See their video story at http://bit.ly/2yJ6z4G.

The capacity crowd enjoyed an elegant black-tie event featuring a six-course gourmet dinner, unique performers, and an outstanding performance from Canada’s most popular comic, Rick Mercer.

“GMS has a long tradition of giving back to the communities in which we live and do business,” says John Salmond, president and CEO, GMS. “We are committed to supporting and promoting local health care, which is especially important for pediatric patients. Partnering with Hospitals of Regina Foundation on this event means we can make a greater impact in helping to build world-class pediatric services for children in our community.”

Every year, more than 9,000 children seek help in Regina’s hospitals. Regina’s medical teams see about 2,000 in-patient pediatric cases, from viral infections and broken bones to acute sickness and chronic diseases. In addition, about 5,000 children come through the out-patient clinics and another 2,500 come to Wascana Rehabilitation Centre for approximately 18,000 pediatric visits annually.
