Prostate cancer, which affects a gland in the male reproductive system, is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers in men.

Thanks to the generosity of community donors and Hospitals of Regina Foundation, the Prostate Assessment Centre (PAC) opened at the Pasqua Hospital in 2007. It is a key center for diagnosis and treatment.

The Foundation’s investment enabled facility upgrades, and the installation of sophisticated diagnostic technology. The upgrades included such things as a recovery/monitoring room with enhanced privacy, a private change room, and a designated prostate suite, where biopsies and ultrasounds are performed.

The technology helps reduce the time from detection to diagnosis, which ensures men get timely and appropriate care for the treatment of prostate cancer. Each year, an average of 1,200 men benefit from the education, support and services provided at PAC.
